Marvel's Spider-Man is an action-adventure Match developed by Insomniac Games and published based on the Marvel Comics superhero Spider-Man.
Released on September 7, 2018, it is the very first game manufactured by Insomniac. The game covers the Peter Parker and facets of the character, and tells a story about Spider-Man that isn't tied to an existing comic book, video game, or film.
Spider-Man was received upon release. Critics called it one of the best superhero games praising particularly the battle its gameplay and web-swinging mechanics, images, narrative, characterization, and style of New York City, though believed it lacked innovation in its own open-world design. The match became a commercial success, promoting 3.3 million copies in its first three days of launch, and broke several sales records.
Spider-Man includes a large ensemble cast of characters in Spider-Man comics' history. Peter Parker (voiced by Yuri Lowenthal) is a 23-year old research assistant, who gains superhuman abilities after being bitten by a genetically-modified spider. He is assisted in his struggle by intrepid Daily Bugle reporter Mary Jane Watson (Laura Bailey), his ex-girlfriend, also NYPD Captain Yuri Watanabe (Tara Platt). Parker is used by his friend and mentor, the honored scientist Dr. Otto Octavius Cheap EXP farming (William Salyers). Spider-Man's experience brings him into contact with other characters, such as Miles Morales (Nadji Jeter) along with his parents, NYPD Officer Jefferson Davis (Russell Richardson) and Rio Morales (Jacqueline Pinol), OsCorp CEO and New York mayor Norman Osborn (Mark Rolston), and Silver Sablinova (Nichole Elise), chief of the private military firm Sable International.
Spider-Man's mission to protect the city brings him into conflict with several supervillains. Fisk is delivered to prison, but cautions that he was the only person. Fisk's lack gives rise to a supernaturally powered, demonic-mask wearing gang called the Demons who start dividing town for the powerful Mr. Negative, who can corrupt individuals through his signature. Spider-Man should also confront Electro (Josh Keaton), Rhino (Fred Tatasciore), Scorpion (Jason Spisak), Vulture (Dwight Schultz), Shocker (Dave B. Mitchell), Taskmaster (Brian Bloom), Screwball (Stephanie Lemelin), and Tombstone (Corey Jones).
Several other characters--such as Parker's and Watson's childhood friend Harry Osborn (Scott Porter), who's vanished on a lengthy European vacation, and anti-Spider-Man podcast host J. Jonah Jameson (Darin de Paul) have voice roles in the main game. The game features several references to the Marvel Comics universe, such as the Sanctum Sanctorum, the Wakandan Embassy, Avengers Tower, Murdock & Nelson Attorneys at Law, Rand Corporation, and Alias Investigations.
